Trap is a genre that has received much acclaim of late. It is a genre very much on the popularity rise and continues to grow and evolve. This is mainly thanks to the phenomenal efforts of up-and-coming producers such as Kayp and Vertex Remedy, together in their collaboration ‘Vile Knightz’. Here they present one of the finest, cleanest trap tracks you will hear today: ‘Cairo’.
Blending their fantastic signature sound into ‘Cairo’, which is a hybrid somewhere between trap, dubstep and drumstep, this is an original likely to appeal to a wide range of dance music fans. Bridging genres, especially when done as competently as Vile Knightz manage here, is interesting, as it opens up lots of new possibilities and doors. Full credit to these artists for stepping slightly outside the box to fuse a unique sound.
In ‘Cairo’ we have a fitting eclectic selection of vocal cuts, ranging from vocoder and dubstep-style growls to atmospheric backing vocals. Incredibly impressive. The evolving flow of this track is also most effective. From a production point of view it is complex and ever changing, however, it sounds natural, connected and fluid, the various elements sitting easily in the mix, keeping the listener fully engaged throughout.
Colorado producer Kolby Benton, aka Kayp, is only 17. Teaming up with Vertex Remedy, their production skills are very evident. These are skills that can’t be learnt overnight. They seem to have a very creative streak, as is evident in ‘Cairo’. We look forward to seeing what the future brings for this state-side up-and-coming duo. One that EDM fans will surely hear mentioned again and again.
‘Cairo’ is available on iTunes now, you can check it out here:
