The Chainsmokers’ rise to the very highest heights of the music scene has been expeditious to say the least. Andrew Taggart and Alex Pall formed the now world-famous originally EDM DJ duo in New York City back in 2012. They could have barely imagined the journey through the music rankings to become Grammy Award winning artists, enjoying collaborations with none other than the likes of Coldplay this year.

Most will remember breakthrough single #selfie back in 2014. From there, hit ‘Roses’ gained the duo significant momentum and single ‘Closer’ last summer gained them the coveted number one spot on the Billboard Hot 100 chart. ‘Paris’ and ‘Something Just Like This’ (with Coldplay) continued their climb towards the musical stratosphere.

On Monday, March 27th, The Chainsmokers teased fans with the release of ‘The One’, a third single from an album they previously said would never be released. Whilst slightly more downtempo than ‘Closer’ and ‘Paris’, the New Yorkers remain true to their signature sound. ‘The One’ is sure to please avid fans.

April 7th will see the release of studio album ‘Memories… Do Not Open’, a hugely anticipated record, but will it deliver? With 12 tracks including two featuring songwriter Emily Warren, we can expect more warm stadium filling sing-a-long anthems. We anticipate this eagerly awaited album to be a great success world-wide.

Memories… Do Not Open is available to order via iTunes now.

Los Angeles based Kenny Barnes aka Ninkendo is a producer to keep your eye on. His latest offering ‘I Got Something”, available via Soundcloud as a free download, features the flowing and airy vocals of Brittany O’Neill. This powerful combination of a solid producer and gifted vocalist is exemplified perfectly in this downtempo trap track.

A dreamy, perfectly mixed vocal underpins a track that encompasses light percussive elements and a bridge synth that works perfectly to add a variation to melodic drop elements. It works well, blending the various segments of the track together flawlessly. Very intuitive and impressive work from Ninkendo.

With a crowded trap scene as the ‘go-to’ genre for many up and coming producers, it is refreshing to find an artist that stands out from the crowd. Ninkendo is certainly a name to watch out for in EDM and is sure to gain recognition and support from the upper-tier of producers and DJ’s.

Make sure to follow Ninkendo on Soundcloud to keep up to date with this up and coming producer. We look forward to hearing what he has in store for us in the future.

Nick Van De Wall aka Afrojack’s set on Saturday evening at Miami’s Ultra Music Festival was always going to be one of the highlights of this years festival. Afro is no stranger to a prime-time Saturday night after dark slot on the famous Miami mainstage. What we witnessed though, was something truly remarkable.

Opening with a superbly crafted atmospheric intro that gradually builds to a dramatic high, Afrojack, appearing behind the ones and twos dressed aptly in hoodie and cap, takes to the mic to ask the capacity crowd ‘who’s ready for some Afrojack music?’

From there an eclectic and smoothly blended concoction of electro, future bass, bass house, trap, mashups, remixes and new ID’s from his label Wall Recordings, flowed effortlessly from the Dutchman, with MC Ambush adding his tones to hype the crowd. There were a few classics such as Martin Garrix & Afrojack – Turn Up The Speakers and Afrojack – Bangduck thrown in as sure-fire favourites.

Guest appearances during Afrojack’s hour long set included O.T. Genasis, Ty Dolla $ign, Belly and Stanaj

Noteworthy was a David Guetta & Afrojack remix of Coldplay & The Chainsmokers – Something Just Like This, David Guetta & Afrojack – Another Life and a hard electro ID by KIIDA & NLW rumoured to be signed to Wall Recordings.

In case you missed it, here is the full set…

Alan Walkers ‘Faded’ Hits 1 Billion Plays On YouTube

Few things to note here…

Faded was indeed the most shazamed song of all time and also, he was only 18 when Faded hit the charts. Yup, crazy huh? Well, we’re super stoked to discover that Faded hit a wopping 1,000,000,000+ on YouTube and it’s definitely not slowing down anytime soon.

We can only admire the PR work behind this massive release, alongside the support of NCS who have been known to support new, up-and-coming talent relentlessly. Props to them!

From here, Alan Walker has seen huge success in terms of shows, radio airplay and his socials are absolutely booming. We can’t wait to see what’s next for this youngster. We feel it also shows rising stars of the future just how possible things are, if done right.

Recently we saw Kungs quick rise to international fame after ‘This Girl’ receiving just over 200,000,000 on YouTube.

Who’s next, we wonder?

Unfortunately for all, Ultra music Festival has come to an end. As we settle down and await impatiently for it’s next chapter we can look back on the huge success within this years explosive offerings.

Just to quickly recap, thankfully nobody had to witness Justin Bieber appearing on stage, deadau5 trolling his audience, nor did we have to witness another festival fatality – As far as we’re aware.

Over 150,000 attended this year although the age limit had been set to 18+

With this there were only 39 arrests and less than 60 attendees seeking transportation to area hospitals for any further medical treatment.

We saw some incredible sets from the likes of Hardwell, Afrojack, Rezz, Armin and an epic closing set from DJ Snake.

Oh, we nearly forgot about this guy in a tree during Tiesto’s set…
